Vessel Ministries exists to glorify God as willing vessels through our three-fold mission statement:
1. Developing and deploying disciples on mission
2. Encouraging elder-shepherds
3. Engaging and exalting Christ through preaching, scripture, and song
Developing and deploying disciples on mission-We believe wholeheartedly that the focus of Christian ministry is the literal living out of the Gospel and the Great Commission. To that end, the primary commands within the Great Commission are to go and to make disciples (Matthew 28:19). The mission of the Gospel is a ministry on the move, beyond the walls of any church building, into the city, the community, and all of creation. Everything that we do centers on this mission. The second command within the Great Commission commands us to make disciples (vs.19), and the church happens to be the body that Christ has given us by which we are to make disciples. It is our mission to develop disciples and help you develop disciples that will live out this commission.
Encouraging elder–shepherds/pastors- It Sean-David’s heart concern and passion as a former full-time student pastor, and as a worship leader/preacher in a local missional church plant, to be a blessing and encouragement to you and the people of your community. Sean-David knows and understand the struggles, frustrations, and the unspeakable joys of Gospel ministry. It is Sean-David’s desire to encourage you for the sake of the Gospel, and most importantly to lift up the name of Christ and our faithful Triune God. If Sean-David comes to bring the word, rest assured that he will do it with all truth, love, sincerity, passion, and the Gospel- as God has called him to do. All this in hopes that it ministers and encourages you as well.
Engaging and exalting Christ through preaching, scripture, and song-We believe the first and foremost purpose of the church is worship; ministry to God (John 4), for the regenerate community of God’s people to worship Him together. Corporately we are to do this through communion with God and worship through His word. We believe that in this manner the preacher/teacher is not just one who teaches, but in a real sense also a worship leader, leading the people of God into worship in community of the One revealed and the One we encounter together as we engage Him through His word.
Preaching- Sean-David is committed to faithful, biblical, expositional, and Christ-centered preaching. Preaching faithfully to youth and adults, in churches, collegiate ministries, and in school chapel services- Sean-David always preach according to these principles. The Bible is full of topics that cover everything we need for our salvation and godly living, and scripture is sufficient. If you have a particular topic or concern, Sean-David would be honored to address it- from scripture and in context. Whatever the occasion or the need, Sean-David would be honored to come and preach the Gospel and the whole counsel of God as a guest at your church or event.
Invitations- Sean-David is called to preach the Gospel and to lead God’s people in worship through scripture and song. The Spirit of the Lord is perfect and it is He Himself who convicts. God moves. Sean-David believes this wholeheartedly and trusts in our faithful God to work as His Gospel is proclaimed. To that end, he is not called to persuade people to make decisions, yet every time scripture is proclaimed, every time the Gospel is preached, there is a call to all who hear to repentance. Sean-David will preach with passion and faithfulness, he will pray, and he will get out of the way. Sean-David always endeavors to be sensitive to the Spirit and will move accordingly, but in general it is his principle and preference not to conduct a direct invitation or altar call as many are accustomed to in American evangelicalism. If you as the pastor feel called of God to make such an invitation, Sean-David leaves that to your leadership under the Chief Shepherd.
Finances– We do not have a predetermined speaking fee or worship leading charge to come to your church or event. Every church has their own operating procedures. Some churches or events provide an honorarium that they have agreed upon as a body or as a body of elders, others collect a love offering, many may even provide both. In the event you invite us to lead worship at, or invite Sean-David to preach at your church or event, all we ask is that you consider our family, traveling expenses, and necessary time for rest. If we will be required to drive over five hours to reach our destination, a hotel would be appropriate for proper rest. If the event is less than five hours away, a hotel room may be helpful, and certainly appreciated depending on the time and length of the event. We would also ask for reimbursement of mileage and gas expenses. How you pay we leave in your hands, we are here to serve Christ and His Church global and local.
We are servants, and Sean-David is a preacher, not a promoter. It is neither our calling nor our place to promote an offering. We trust that if you as an elder-shepherd/pastor are called to invite someone to minister to you, your congregation, and your community- you will care for us accordingly in love and grace. We do not come to a church or event to sell CD’s, books, or to solicit names and contact information. If you would like, at your request we are of course willing and would be honored to bring either information about, or current recordings and books themselves along for availability and encouragement.
